Love It

I love to "window shop"...  Oh the possibilities.  I love to wander around and see all the pretties for my house.  I imagine where it would go - what I would pair it with... I really do have alot of fun doing this.  Once in awhile I will even put something I find in my cart or basket - usually to eventually talk myself out of why I shouldn't buy it and then back it goes.

Well, once a year I do go out the door KNOWING I will come home with something new. 

When you ask??? 

December 26th - at Crate & Barrel.  LOVE that store and they always have some awesome deals after Christmas - like under $20.  I think one of my favorite finds this year was this little birdie 

So cute - beautiful.  It was an ornament and now it is hanging in my kitchen window.  I love it.

I love this black and white of it too.  Hey and what makes it even more beautiful is I actually have my beadboard backsplash up now too!  I post some of that soon.

(wow - need to wash those windows :)

Frozen Cookie Dough Exchange

I have been wanting to do one of these for quite some time now...

We had one this past week at church.

These were the guidelines:

Sign up for as many dozen cookies as you wanted to exchange - bring them a dozen packed to a freezer bag.

"Please label EACH bag with the type of cookies and cooking instructions from a frozen state.

Example - label each bag:

  
Name of your cookie

Cooking instructions

Your name & phone number 

(just in case the baker has any questions)"

We had some tables out and had each person just line up her freezer bags in a line.  Everyone walked around and picked out what they wanted (understanding that you could only take as many dozen as you brought).

Now my freezer is stocked with cookie dough.  My only problem - my kids all know it's in there!!!

This could be really fun - you could do a potluck with this, or have everyone bring a baked dozen of their cookies so everyone can taste test - also copies of their recipe (or better yet - have everyone email you their recipe and share the file with all who attend)...

Tip of the Day

I believe I have been suffering from the norovirus (aka a yucky intestinal bug) the past couple of days - and it made me realize how great it was when someone shared this tip with me...



It is so much more convenient than trying to rush to the bathroom. Any good sized bowl will do and any good trash bag (just make sure it has NO HOLES!!!) Line the bowl and hand to the person in need :) It is a life saver with kids!

If you didn't already know this, hope it can be of help to you someday.

Yet Another Favorite

I LOVE this! I really like my house to smell nice (I know, who doesn't), and this is this ticket. Other air fresheners can smell a bit chemically (I know, not a real word) to me, but not this. It smells like you have just peeled fresh oranges in your house. They have other scents too (grapefruit, I think lime, etc), but I have never tried them because I love this one so much :).

I rarely get to the laundry when it is done drying. With four kids and lots of
T shirts, this stuff is really a help to me!
I lay the shirt out flat... spray, spray, spray... turn over, repeat... fold and done.

Another favorite thing

Hydrangeas are one of my most absolute favorite flowers. There are SO many different kinds... all so beautiful. I found this amazing photo on flickr (taken by "mother nature") at Longwood Gardens (Pennsylvania) in the conservatory. I have never seen hanging baskets with hydrangeas - so beautiful!!!!
I bought some "Endless Summer" hydrangeas last year (they are supposed to bloom on both old and new wood). I am looking forward to see how they weathered the winter.
I have read that waking up to the sight of fresh flowers is good for you - gets you going faster.
